Pirog: I see that but when my categories also need metadata .
Slavinski: My categories become post types.
Eckberg: Hierarchical post types ofc but still post types.
Most: For example i’ve a post type formation. These formations are categorized by another post type “formation type”. In the frontend users must be able to search by “formation type” or see it in a menu like for all taxonomies but a “formation type” is defined by a title and a wysiwyg description field so it’s not a taxonomy or I’m understanding it wrong.
Fordham: You can add a description to taxonomies
Heuser: Ok nice. Can I add more fields ?
Jendras: Don’t loose your time answering me I will read the do***entation about taxonomies again and if I come back it will be with smarter questions
Mirr: Or at least more important questions for me
Prust: It’s uhh as far as I remember, not supported by default
Crickenberger: I might be wrong, but you can study how woocommerce does it
Ogles: Hi. I copied the raw data and imported the mysqldump . but Elenbaas is displayed, perhaps because of the siteurl that changed of course.
Ficek: Can I edit the siteurl from the php files?
Palmertree: Workerbeetwo: you try to move a WordPress site?
Osberg: Yes. I moved it already. I checked a vanialla wordpress first. updated the db and replaced the files. updated db connection info and even changed the site url in the wp_options table.
Lois: But no login screen. Elenbaas.
Balbuena: Sigh … a simple yes would have been fine.
Steerman: Workerbeetwo: Duplicator – https://----escape_autolink_uri:a03ded6cd97ffffa8f7b4e1454f3eecc----.org/plugins/duplicator/
Littles: Try to use that plugin. it’s quite convenient to clone WordPress sites with it.
Trueman: If for any reason this shouldn’t work, there is a somewhat lengthy description available at …
Hoss: Workerbeetwo: If you rename the WordPress directory on your server, switch ports or change the hostname http://codex.----escape_autolink_uri:a03ded6cd97ffffa8f7b4e1454f3eecc----.org/Moving_WordPress applies
Capo: Kenshino_: I taken a quick look at woocommerce and a red better the do***entation. It seems all my objects can’t be taxonomies since they all need to have the ability to be seen in one page like a post/page from the frontend.
Pinckard: They all need aditionnal data and it’s very complicated to add custom data to taxonomies . I barelly understood the half of the method woocommerce used to do that .
Szermer: BZx: for metadata, the plugin Advanced Custom Fields is quite popular
Redemer: BZx: Advanced Custom Fields – https://----escape_autolink_uri:a03ded6cd97ffffa8f7b4e1454f3eecc----.org/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/
Szermer: In the end you just use the post_meta functions, but this plugin makes that even easier
Bentancourt: I think you saved me an amazing amount of time mpol
Szermer: Post_meta is for posts ofcourse, but ACF does taxonomies too
Szermer: A taxonomy page can be seen on its URL, and uses the taxonomy.php or archive.php template. It will show the posts in that term, and you can add metadata from ACF on that template
Stonum: I don’t know if anyone knows of any plugin that does what I want, but I’ve been searching. I’m after a simple widget for a newsletter signup, preferably ajax/jquery to confirm submission/errors and for it to submit to a custom page. Anyone know of any like this?
Szermer: Stonum: how do you send the newsletter? and where do you want the subscription to go?
Stonum: Sent manually for now, not after any integration with mail plugins at the moment
Stonum: It’s basically going to a php file that writes it to a text file
Szermer: Stonum: there are several plugins for things like mailchimp. I like the Newsletter plugin. It is good, as long as you don’t need it to be translated
Falwell: Stonum: Newsletter – https://----escape_autolink_uri:a03ded6cd97ffffa8f7b4e1454f3eecc----.org/plugins/newsletter/
Szermer: You can see the list of subscribers in an admin page
Zeisler: Pixolin: ok. I can login in now. and yes it doesnt find the plugins that should be installed :
